The 5 steps our freight forwarders take to make freight forwarding simple
We understand that there is no one-size-fits-all solution for developing services for our freight forwarding customers. The specifics of the process will be determined by a range of variables relating to the nature of your shipment. However, the process generally covers five distinct stages:
1. Cargo handover
Our efficient haulage service will see your shipment transported from its original location to our secure warehouse at WWCF HQ. Once here, your goods will be checked to make sure everything is accounted for and in a suitable condition. Once this cross-check is completed, we'll load your items into shipping containers, ready for the next leg.
2. Customs clearance on export
Don't get slowed down by red tape! We have a dedicated team of experienced Customs Brokers who will take steps to guarantee compliance with all regulations associated with transporting your goods in and out of Australia.
3. Getting your goods from A to B
Having worked with you to identify the preferred and most appropriate method of transport, we'll carry your cargo to its destination country.
4. Customs clearance on import
Once again, our highly-experienced team of Customs Brokers will ensure all steps have been taken to allow your goods into their destination country.
5. Safe and timely delivery
Once cleared by customs officials in the destination country, we’ll arrange safe onward transportation of your cargo.
What should you look for in a reputable freight forwarding service?
Freight forwarding is all about trust - after all, you’re placing your faith in the provider to get your goods where they need to go, safely and without unnecessary delays. This is not a responsibility any freight forwarding company should take lightly.
Look for a company that offers more than a one-size-fits-all solution. Make sure the team you engage is willing to take the time to fully understand your requirements, before tailoring a solution. They should want to know about the nature of the goods that are to be transported, your preferred methods of transport, your timeline, and your budget.
With any international transportation of goods, unforeseen circumstances can arise meaning even the best-laid plans need to be revised. Therefore, it’s vital that your chosen partner can demonstrate flexibility and an aptitude for quick thinking and problem-solving.
If issues arise that interfere with the original plan, you’ll want to be certain an alternative solution can be found to meet your original requirements.
Communication is key. Your chosen freight company should be committed to openness, honesty, and transparency about their operations and pricing structures, and to keeping you updated on the progress of your shipment at every stage of the journey.
Make sure you do your research … ask colleagues and other trusted business contacts for recommendations, and check for positive Google and social media reviews.

Sydney Imports & Final Delivery Solutions
WWCF is committed to providing the best freight import service from door to door. That’s why we offer a variety of domestic transport solutions for final delivery once your goods have arrived in Australia.
Flight, rail, and road services, Australia-wide
Domestic cargo flights, a dedicated freight road line, and long-haul interstate rail options are some of the ways we can deliver goods to your door faster. Let us calculate the best, fastest, and most cost-efficient means of transporting your goods within Australia.
Domestic coastal shipping
Products arriving in Sydney’s Port Botany will immediately be transferred onto the next available vessel, and shipped domestically to any Australian port.
Sydney Freight Forwarding by Air
Positioned only 8km from the city center, Sydney Airport offers world-leading global transport solutions that are easily accessible by rail and road.
As Australia’s busiest airport, it has secured its position as Australia’s biggest freight hub. In fact, Sydney Airport is currently responsible for around 45 percent of goods imported to and exported from Australia!
What’s more, Sydney’s second airport - set to be known as Western Sydney International Airport - is under construction, and scheduled to be completed by 2026. And while Sydney’s existing airport currently has a flight curfew, Western Sydney will operate under no such restrictions. This means it will be open to deliver and receive international and domestic freight 24 hours a day.
Sydney Freight Forwarding by Sea
For Australians importing or exporting goods by sea, our team can manage the entire process in a way that will guarantee arrival securely and on deadline.
Located in south-eastern Sydney, 12 kilometers southeast of the CBD, Port Botany is one of Australia’s biggest and busiest container ports. This natural deepwater harbor plays host to heavy commercial shipping lanes and offers easy connection to Australia’s domestic water, road, rail, and air routes.
Frequently Asked Questions
We can transport your goods to and from any domestic or international destination. For imports, you’ll enjoy access to an Australia-wide delivery network comprising sea, air, road, and rail, so you’ll be in receipt of your goods in the fastest time.
This really depends on a set of variables including the size, weight, quantity, and nature of the cargo transported. Other factors that come into play are the timeframes involved, the means of transportation, and the need for additional services.
Our people will discuss all of this and more as they develop an understanding of your needs and consider the options that will most effectively meet your objectives. We’ll apply these insights as we develop a customised solution to get the results you need at the most affordable price and in the fastest time.
While there is some crossover between logistics and freight forwarding, they are essentially two different services.
Freight forwarding is the management and coordination of the physical transport and delivery elements associated with getting your goods from A to B.
A logistics company usually offers a suite of services spanning the import and export supply chain, of which freight forwarding is just one element. Other logistical considerations might include fleet, warehousing, and inventory.

The short answer is every aspect! By engaging WWCF to handle the freight forwarding process from start to finish, you can rest assured that everything from initial pick up to final delivery will be expertly taken care of. Our international network of trusted contacts will work to make sure all the required paperwork, customs considerations, duties, and transport bookings are handled on deadline, and within budget.
Put simply, no we don’t. For every freight forwarding job, we’ll work to find a network partner (or combination of partners) that will provide the best service, most competitive rates, and fastest delivery time.
Most commonly, shipping containers tend to be 20- and 40-foot. However, we can investigate and recommend bigger or smaller containers if that’s more appropriate for your shipment. Whatever your requirements, our people will work with you to recommend the solution that will best meet your needs.

International commercial terms (or inco terms) comprise 11 rules and associated abbreviations designed to outline the roles, responsibilities, risks, and costs of the international transport of goods. In Australia, these are updated annually by the government. Our team will work with you at the start of every project to ascertain which of these terms applies to your shipment.
Currently, Australia’s inco terms are as follows:
EXW - Ex-Works
The buyer assumes the majority of cost and risk throughout the entire shipping process. The seller only has to ensure that the buyer can access their goods.
FCA - Free Carrier
The seller has the responsibility to transport their goods to the buyer’s carrier, at a location both parties agree on, and also clear goods for export.
CPT - Carriage Paid To
The seller has the responsibility to transport their goods to the buyer’s carrier, at a location both parties agree on, and cover all delivery costs. They must also clear goods for export.
CIP - Carriage and Insurance Paid to
The seller has the responsibility to transport their goods to the buyer’s carrier, at a location both parties agree on, and cover all carriage, insurance (maximum level), and delivery costs. They must also clear goods for export.
DPU - Delivered at Place Unloaded (previously DAT - Delivered At Terminal)
The seller is responsible for all costs and risks involved in delivering goods to an agreed unloading location. The seller covers customs clearance and manages the unloading, the buyer covers import clearance and related duties.
DAP - Delivered At Place
The seller is required to cover the costs and risk throughout the transport process until the goods reach their location and are ready to be unloaded.
DDP - Delivered Duty Paid
The seller assumes the majority of the cost and risk throughout the entire shipping process, makes sure they’re available to be unloaded, and fulfills any import or export responsibilities and fees.
FAS - Free Alongside Ship
The seller is responsible for all costs and risks involved until goods are delivered to the following ship. The buyer then assumes all risk and any import or export clearance.
FOB - Free On Board
The seller is responsible for all costs and risks involved until goods are delivered on board the ship. They also manage export clearance. The buyer assumes all responsibility once the goods are on board.
CFR - Cost And Freight
The seller is responsible for all costs and risks involved, assumes all responsibility for the goods once they’re on board, and covers this until goods are delivered to the port.
CIF - Cost, Insurance and Freight
The seller is responsible for all costs and risks involved, including insurance (at minimum 110% of invoice value), and assumes all responsibility for the goods once they’re on board. This remains valid until goods are delivered to the port. Additional insurance cover is arranged by the seller at the buyer’s cost.
